About Our ChuRch

A Bible Believing, Bible Teaching, Bible Living Congregation

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

Matthew 28:18-20

Pastor’s Note

If you’re here, it probably means you want to know more about us. You'll hear us say things like “come be part of the family,” and below you can read a little bit more about what this means.

Feel free to reach out to me with questions about our mission and beliefs – I’d be delighted to meet you.

Our Mission

“mission gives your life purpose”

The mission of LCM is to Know Christ and Make Him known.

Through this relationship with Christ, we hope to touch lives and change hearts, helping others to encounter Christ, and to develop a personal relationship with the Living Trinity.

The Game of Life can at times be difficult and confusing, come join us in the huddle each Sunday morning at either 8:30 AM or 10:30 AM to be encouraged, challenged, and instructed as we get back on the field together.

Our Vision

“vision gives your life direction”

Living Christ’s Mission

To seek and save the lost - “To share the Love of Christ Today!”

We live Christ’s mission by sharing the good news that Christ died and rose again to give us abundant and eternal life, and by introducing others to the living, loving relationship with the Holy Trinity. We desire to make the world a better place and to grow the Kingdom of God through Baptism, Communion, prayer, study, and through learning about and using our God given gifts. It is our intention to become committed disciples of Christ and servant leaders in the Church, the community and the world.

Our Core Values

“values give your life character”

Our core values are rooted in the Word of God and lived out in the ministry of people of all ages.

We believe, teach, and confess the Triune God:

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We believe God the Father is eternal and in the Trinity.

We believe Jesus is the son of God, being both completely God and completely man.

We believe the Holy Spirit, is our counselor and helper, and has distributed gifts to all believers to build up the body of Christ.

We believe He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross,

rose again to redeem mankind.

We believe Scripture is Divinely inspired.

We believe Salvation is through Christ alone.

Our Staff

We have many staff members that are happy to help with any of your inquiries.

Our Heritage

Lutheran Church of the Master began on December 11, 1960 with a vision to reach new residents in the rapidly growing Brooklyn Center/Brooklyn Park area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Paul and Carole Swedberg received a call from the Augustana Lutheran Church to begin this new mission outreach, and God immediately began to bless their efforts as the Holy Spirit moved through their ministry.

The property of our current location was first purchased in 1957 with construction beginning early in 1961 on our first building unit. That space was quickly outgrown as the congregation worshipped three times each Sunday morning and by 1966 a larger sanctuary and classrooms were constructed. In 1981 we added a gym, new kitchen and office space. By 1994 we had outgrown our space once again and purchased the apartment buildings to the east of the church, converting them into Sunday School and rooms for additional ministry.

The ministries of LCM all reflect our vision to raise up and equip spiritually strong leaders who will impact our world with the Power of the Word of God and Presence of Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us in this incredible work of reaching our world in the Name of the Living God!
